Custom Queen Rearing Wax Cell Cup Jig
MAKE YOUR OWN CELL CUPS!
Here is the Custom Wax Cell Cup Jig. Nothing takes the place of real wax cell cups in queen rearing. It is natural to the bees(water pan not included).
This is the same tool we use here at H L Bee Farm in our queen rearing operation. Simple to use, just keep the jig points sitting in a water pan with about 2 inches of water. Have your wax melted in a large crock pot or roaster oven to the point that the wax is cool enough and is skimming around the edges. Lift your jig from the water and give it a quick shake to remove the excess water. Next, by holding the wax jig handle in the center, ease it evenly down into the wax so the pegs are submerged about half an inch. Lift it up for a few seconds and repeat the same process three or more times. This builds thicker walls on the cups. Allow the cell cups to cool for a few seconds and then remove them from the pegs by giving then a light counter clockwise twist as you slide them off. The jig will make 15 cell cups at a time. Make several ahead and keep them stored in the fridge until needed.
