Beekeeping Equipment
In today's world beekeeping is changing and our mission is to change with it and develop breeds of bees and beekeeping supplies that will meet the future needs of beekeeping. One example is our line of 5 frame beekeeping equipment such as our Garden Beehives, formally known as Nucs. In the past the beekeeping supply companies only marketed these hives a tool for making splits, catching swarms, or in queen production. H&L Bee Farm has found these Garden Hives to be the ideal future bee hive due to the various honey bee pest that have entered the beekeeping industry. We are promoting 5 frame Garden Hive Beekeeping and offering all expansion equipment for them as a new more efficient approach to beekeeping.
Here is why. In nature honey bees do well in a smaller space such as a hollow tree. Bees would much rather build upwards than side to side. Our 1 inch entrance gives the bees a chance to defend the hive better. Removing honey supers and moving the hives is much easier. The 5 frame hive allows the bees less stress in winter as the cluster does not have the extra space to heat up as in traditional 10 frame equipment.
Garden Bee Hives
The best beehive is a strong beehive. You can take 2 of our 5 frame Garden Bee Hives and sit them next to a standard 10 frame bee hive. Install a package of bees in each and feed them all the same. Before you know it, the Garden Hives will need a deep 5 frame hive body added while the 10 frame will be sitting there with a lot of empty frames. Next the Garden Hives will have their extra 5 frame hive bodies full while the 10 is still sitting there with empty frames in it's first chamber. Get the picture? Now add one of our 5 frame queen excluders and a medium 5 frame honey super to your Garden Hives. When they get full add another 5 frame super on the Garden Hives.
